A smirking Ken Paxton, Jr, Attorney General for the state of Texas, took a memorable mugshot and was charged with two felony counts of securities fraud today.
Paxton, 52, allegedly ripped off $600,000 in a fraudulent stock investment scheme. The conservative Republican is now the second top Texas elected official to be charged with a crime while in office. Governor Rick Perry, a Presidential candidate, is facing a felony indictment for abuse of power as Governor.
Paxton, whose wife is a guidance counselor at a Christian School, posted bond and was not jailed.
